Hottrax and Team DSR Join Forces for 2006
With a decade's racing experience, Darren Jones has joined Hottrax to assist with the running of their new "Academy" days in the role of Chief Instructor. Hottrax, one of the largest and most respected track day organisers in the UK, are expanding their services for 2006. In addition to the usual track days, Hottrax are introducing a new event where customers are looked after throughout the day. As a customer you will be allocated an instructor who will stay with you, and up to a maximum of 6 others, all day long. All instructors are extremely experienced and can offer much more than the usual trackday instructors. You will benefit from various briefings throughout the day where you will learn about various aspects of riding (body position, throttle control, braking etc) and your machine (tyres, suspension set up etc). The days are not run alongside a normal track day event. Every rider on circuit will be part of the Academy. This means, as a customer, you can ride with the safe knowledge that no one will attempt a dangerous pass. Your instructor will carefully monitor your progress throughout the day and you will be allowed to demonstrate your new skills during the last session. "Over the years I've been approached by many riders wanting a compromise between a track day and a race school. Having instructed at both, I feel that track days have been criticised for their lack of control but race schools are often too expensive. In my opinion this is the perfect offering". Darren Jones, Team DSR As a rider you will be riding your own machine negating the need to learn a new bike. If however, you'd rather not ride your own bike, Hottrax can arrange the hire of a Yamaha R6 at an additional cost. The Academy will cater for riders with different abilities from the first time track user through to improvers with a few track days under their belts up to riders who have done maybe 10 track days and want to improve their skills. The restriction on using road tyres only and no tyre warmers will mean that everyone starts on a level playing field allowing each rider to fully benefit from each session. "I would like to welcome Darren to the Hottrax team and wish him every success in the future. Darren will ensure that the Academy events will be a great success this year with support from all the other instructors, customers and management." Dave Mabbutt, Hottrax
